Drillmax® Drill Pipe Float Valve
Flapper Style
Model G Flapper Type Float Valve
Full Flow Flapper Type
The Model G is a flapper type float valve that offers unobstructed flow through the float valve. It’s designed for abrasive drilling fluids. The flapper closes to prevent cuttings from entering the drill string when flow stops and acts to assist BOP equipment in maintaining control over pressure in the drill string. The Model G features an investment cast flapper that is quick opening, allowing full flow through the valve. It fully opens when joints are raised from the hole, preventing drilling mud from being released onto the rig floor.
Model GA Flapper Type Float Valve
Full Flow Flapper Type with Carbide Insert Port
The Model GA is identical to the Model G except for a small hole in the middle of the flapper that makes the flapper ported. This port facilitates the ability for differential pressure readings at the surface. The port also allows for partial automatic filling of the drill pipe, during run in.
Model GC Flapper Type Float Valve
Full Flow Flapper Type Automatic Fill
The Model GC is identical to the Model G but adds an automatic fill feature when going in the hole. A control arm holds the flapper slightly open during run in, allowing the valve to fill from the bottom. This removes the requirement for filling the drill pipe from the top, saving time. Similar to the Model G, the valve fully opens when the drill string is raised, preventing environmental and safety risks associated with having mud on the rig floor. The valve operates as a Model G as soon as the mud is pumped down the drill string. The Model GC helps prevent pressure surges that could cause formation damage.
Model GCA Flapper Type Float Valve
Full Flow Flapper type for automatic fill with Carbide Insert Port
The Model GCA is identical to the Model GA but adds an automatic fill feature that permits automatic filling of the drill pipe from the bottom and measuring differential pressures from the surface. The Model GCA helps prevent pressure surges that could cause formation damage.
Model GS Flapper Type Float Valve
Full Flow Flapper Type
The Model GS is designed and sized for use in drilling motors and performs well in erosive high flow, and corrosive H2S sour gas conditions. The GS float valve design reduces wear on the hinge pin and spring assembly and allows double stacking of GS float valves.

Float Valve Installation
Drillmax Drill Pipe Float Valves are easy to install. Simply lubricate the side seal rubbers and slide the float valve into the float bore of any tool that’s been prepared for a float valve.
CAUTION: Unless you are using automatic fill Models GC and Model GCA, fill the drill pipe regularly when going in the hole. Failure to do so can cause damage to the drill pipe, well formation and/or the float valves. Double stacking is not recommended unless using a Model GS Float Valve.
